Slava's user guide

Hi there! 👋 I’m delighted to be working with you and can’t wait to see what we’ll accomplish together! 🚀 I already have high expectations that our collaboration will yield incredible results. 😄

That said, we’re all unique people, shaped by different life experiences—and we probably have our own preferences, styles, and even API quirks (multiple parameters, anyone? 😉). This is totally normal and part of what makes teamwork so interesting!

I’ve put together this user guide to give you a better handle on me—my values, quirks, and areas where I’m growing—so we can build the strongest relationship possible. 💪 I’d love for you to share your guide with me too, so we can both thrive and learn from each other. Let’s make it awesome! 🌟

How I view success

  • Success means always learning and improving, even when things don’t go as planned.

  • The process matters as much as results; sustainable success comes from strong processes and workflows.

  • Aim high, even if you miss sometimes, and always strive to do better.

How I communicate

  • I’m clearer in speaking while in person than writing; please ask if anything needs clarification.

  • I’ll share my views clearly if needed to avoid misalignment. “I don’t frame responses to colleagues with open-ended questions that block my ability to define a ‘ready’ state. To overly simplify, I don’t say, ‘I have options A or B. Which do you want?’ I say, ‘I have option A and B. Here’s how we got to these options. Here are the tradeoffs. Please let me know your thoughts. I’ll move forward with A if I don’t hear any new feedback.’”

  • I engage respectfully in conversations, often nodding and smiling—it shows encouragement, not always agreement.

How to gain my trust:

  • Be transparent, self-aware, and open to feedback.

  • Take ownership of problems and use all resources to solve them.

  • Honor your commitments, or reset expectations early if needed.

  • Dream big and act on your optimism.

  • Give feedback directly to people, not behind their backs.

  • Show respect to everyone, avoid office drama or not constructive feedback.

  • If you receive feedback, show improvement or help clarify.

Giving and receiving feedback

  • Aim to be specific, constructive, and timely

  • Balance critical feedback with positive reinforcement

  • Give feedback in private when appropriate, and with the intention to help

  • Encourage open dialogue—feedback is a two-way street

  • When we reflect on feedback and provide concrete steps to improve

How I Like to Work

  • I do my best thinking early in the day. If you need deep feedback or brainstorming, mornings are golden!

  • Quick Slack pings are great for urgent stuff. For thoughtful discussions, I prefer written design docs or in person meetings

Strengths:

  • Build strong relationships and trust across the company

  • Focus on long-term vision and strategy

  • Approach problems with thoughtful planning and clear rationale

  • Autonomy - I intentionally seek out environments where I have autonomy and variety in my day-to-day work
  • I simply communicate my work life boundaries, constraints, and strengths

Growth Areas:

  • Communicate more clearly and concisely

  • Strengthen personal connections through storytelling

  • “Someone once told me, ‘We’re not performing brain surgery or rocket science’ and it was such a good reality check. Unless you’re a literal brain surgeon, it’s OK to not be perfect and available all the time. When I’m on, I’m on 100%. And when I’m off, I’m off 100%.”
